Experimental Sounding Rocketry Association
The Experimental Sounding Rocketry Association is a small scale rocketry club on California State University, Long Beach campus. I am this years club president.
ESRA is another rocket club that I helped re-establish from inactivity. It has become a special project of mine because I have played a major role in shaping its goals, rules, and culture based on my previous rocket experience. What makes ESRA special compared to BLT is that we have an emphasis on mathematical analysis, documentation and balanced representation. We purposefully sought out highly skilled women-engineer majors to be apart of our team.
Last year, ESRA was able to design, build, test, fly and recover a test-vehicle to a 10,000 ft apogee within 6 months. It required tons of teamwork and overcoming many failed launch attempts.
Now our goal this year is develop a fully- student developed liquid heat-sink rocket engine and participate in this up coming FAR OUT Competition. This will require several hot fire test and a great team with highly skilled and dedicated members. ESRA's engine development project is my chance to deepen my abilities as a design and test engineer.
